Crystal Blue Pool Contractors designs and builds custom pools across Northeast Los Angeles, with a focus on the sloped lots and tight-access properties that define these neighborhoods. From the grading study and structural drawings through excavation, the shotcrete shell, tile, plaster, and the deck, one accountable crew owns the whole build. We plan the pool to your slope, your access, and your budget, and put the design and price in writing first.
- Hillside and sloped-lot engineering
- Tight-access build planning

How we build a pool into a Northeast LA slope
A hillside pool build starts long before the dig, with a grading study and a soils report that tell us what the ground will hold. On a sloped lot the pool often doubles as a retaining structure, so we engineer the shell for the lateral earth loads, set the footings to competent soil, and plan how the pool ties into the existing grade and drainage. Only once that is settled do we stake the excavation.
From there the build follows a fixed order for good reason. The dig shapes the pool and any retaining cuts, then we set the steel, run the plumbing, and shoot the shotcrete shell that gives the structure its strength against the hill. After the shell cures we move to the waterline tile, the coping, the interior finish, and the deck that has to be carved out of the surrounding grade.
Throughout, access drives the sequencing. On a narrow side-yard lot we plan exactly how the machine, the spoil, and the shotcrete move in and out, so the build does not stall waiting on a way through. We keep you posted at each phase, finish with the equipment startup and a water balance, and walk you through running the new pool.
Designed for the lot you actually have
The best pool for a Northeast LA home is the one shaped around its specific slope and access. A property that falls away toward a canyon view needs a very different plan than one that climbs behind the house, and a four-foot gate rules out approaches a wide driveway would allow. We design with those realities in mind from the first sketch, so the plan we hand you is one the lot can carry without expensive surprises.
We also design for the smaller backyards common on these older lots. A compact geometric pool, a spool, or a plunge pool can turn a tight hillside yard into real outdoor living without pretending the lot is bigger than it is. We shape the depth, the steps, and the features to fit the space and the way your household will use it.
Because we build what we design, the choices that drive cost and longevity get made together. The shell, the retaining, the drainage, the equipment location, and the deck all influence one another on a slope, and planning them as one project is how the finished backyard ends up cohesive instead of a set of separately solved problems.
Built to hold its slope for decades
On a hillside, the structure is everything, so it is where we concentrate. We engineer the shell for the soil and the grade, set the steel to spec, and shoot the shotcrete so the shell can carry the loads the hill puts on it. The plumbing is laid out for efficient circulation, the drainage is designed to route hillside runoff away from the pool, and the equipment pad is built where it can be reached and serviced.
The finishes are chosen to last in the CA sun and the way these yards are used. Quality plaster, quartz, or pebble interiors, durable tile and coping, and decking that handles heat and movement are what keep a pool looking right years after the build. We choose them with you, never as a default upsell.
We build to local pool code and the relevant ANSI/APSP and ICC-5 standards, with the engineering and inspections that make a hillside pool safe and durable. If you are planning a new pool in Northeast Los Angeles, call 424-421-3764 for a free design consultation and an honest, written plan.
From this service to the whole pool construction
A pool is a design-build project, so pool construction rarely stands alone, it connects to pool renovations, a pool redesign, a new plaster finish, building the deck, new pumps and filters, and our crew handles all of it as one accountable team. We bring the same service to Highland Park pool construction, Eagle Rock pool construction, Echo Park pool construction, Glassell Park pool construction and everywhere else across the Los Angeles area.
